I love a classic piece and that includes houndstooth. The menswear inspired print is always in style but recently, there has been a resurgence of the bold pattern with sightings on the red carpet and the Spring runways. The often androgynous print is usually interpreted in a serious manner with structured silhouettes in stark black and white but, not for Spring. Designers took a more feminine, fun approach to houndstooth for the warmer weather incorporating bright colors with other textures and prints. A new classic - yes please!
Accessories are a subtle way to incorporate the print into your look. ERW and Maria Bello look so sophis
A little bit of color goes a long way for the classic check on two classic chicks (sorry, I had to!)
Menswear no more, the model and reality star look cool and sexy
High slits, peek-a-boo blouses and fur ruffles; it doesn't get much more ladylike
Ferragamo, Albino
Designers also played with the print scale and the larger the size, the cooler it gets
Issey Miyake, Neil Barrett, Karen Walker
There is so much fun to be had mixing houndstooth with lace, print and marl. The rule to mixing any and all prints is to stick with similar color palettes and print proportion and you can create a look as easy as the outfits below.
Peter Som and Stella McCartney
These looks are by far my favorite. they are colorful, bold and girly. LOVE
Both Erdem
Fall in love with these looks at a price you can afford. My favorites here, here, and here

Nice Day for a White Wedding
I'm addicted to shopping for wedding dresses. I'm not even engaged but recently, I've found myself getting lost online for hours looking at bridal sites. The bf says it is just another reason for me to spend time shopping online. Maybe it is OR, it could also be part of my not-so-secret desire to be a wedding planner. I have a little J.Lo wedding planner in me, minus the whole hot Doctor boyfriend and Gucci shoes. Anway, it was probably hour four of my most recent online shopping excursion that I stumbled upon the lovely brand known as BHLDN. While the name was inspired by the Dutch word, "to keep," it was a love of all things LOVE that helped create this romantic, fairytale-esque Anthropologie spin-off. Like their mother company, BHLDN offers feminine, vintage looking apparel and accessories that are truly one of a kind. One look and you'll be addicted.
These just say, "parisian elegance" to me
I love how ethereal and whimsical these are with subtle details
These look like a well kept hand-me-down; old yet somehow modern
I am in love with the mix-and-match pieces. How does one decide?
Along with the more formal dresses are a wide variety of short styles perfect for an engagement party or rehearsal dinner.
For the classic girl...
Or the flirt
There are even shoes and these are not just for the bride. I'm contemplating all of these for my next occasion
I'm over the whole colored shoe trend for a wedding but I can move past it for these beauties
And who doesn't love sparkle?
Classic white but never boring. The feathers are everything.
Yes, there is even more to love with a collection of wedding day accoutrements like cardis, shrugs, furs and capes
Layer for warmth or for drama, both are show-stopping
Fall even more in love with this must-watch

Anne of Green Cables
It may still be 80 degrees but Fall is right around the corner and nothing screams cozy like a good cable-knit sweater. What was once a preppy closet staple is now very chic. Designers sent the perennial style down the runway in toppers, crops, light weaves and fur-trims for a more updated look than we've seen in the past. The cable sweater isn't just for roaming the school hallways with your cords anymore. Consider pairing the classic piece with a constructed skirt or flowy dress as you transition to the cooler temps.
Tommy Hilfiger, Rebecca Taylor, Luisa Beccaria
How fabulous are these two ladies? This style is most often found in neutrals so how fabulous is the red? D.I.E.

If you're looking for a more modern cable-knit sweater than the ones collecting dust in your closet, look no further. Retailers are offering them at all price ranges, in a variety of silhouettes. Happy Shopping!

Kate and Nicole always know how to make a classic piece cool. Kate pairs her cables with cute khaki trousers for a perfect Fall ensemble while Nicole pairs her dress with tights for a more winter appropriate look.
