What is Light - Urple?

I know everyone out there in the blog world has already posted about their favorite (and least favorite) dresses from last night's Golden Globes so I thought I'd just post a little bit about the trends we saw.

Purple was definitely THE color of the night:

Versace, Valentino

Elie Saab, Cavalli

Lanvin, Bottega Veneta, J Mendel
Many actresses played it safe with black but they still stood out in the crowd:

Victoria Beckham Collection, Georges Hobeika

Valentino, Elie Saab, Lanvin
All in all, the trends - column dresses, sweetheart necklines and asymmetrical necklines - are silhouettes from last year's award season. They're classic and flattering and my guess is we will see many more in the upcoming award season.

Look of the Week

These two ladies have earned my pick for Look of the Week. Here is Jennifer Connelly on her way to a taping of the Late Show in a very fun and albeit youthful look. I'm partial to this outfit because I'm pretty sure I wore it yesterday but bias aside, this works for the office or dinner. Amber Valletta has earned this prestigious accolade for her daring color choice. The tangerine is reminiscent of the orange shades on the runway and likely to be popular this Spring. Kudos to both ladies for keeping their looks new and fresh.

Closet Case

Here is a little something to give you some serious closet envy. I wish my closet looked like one of these this morning before the clothes were flying in every direction.

I'm loving the high contrast in Nicki and Miley's closets.

Olivia Wilde's Cedar lined closet and Mariah Carey's infamous shoe closet with gold star inlays on the floor. Where would one begin in a shoe closet this large? I'm not saying I'd have a problem with it of course!

J. Crew Creative Director, Jenna Lyon's closet. One of these pictures is from a photoshoot of her Brooklyn home where a little staging was done. I'm sorry I do not remember which is the real thing but both are amazing. The look so easily changes from French chic to ski lodge equestrian with just a few different pieces.

These are both so cozy looking. I love the idea of a closet in the bathroom
